Sir William Rowan Hamilton
1805 - 1865
An Irish mathematician. On the 16th of October 1843, Hamilton had a flash of genius in discovering the fundamental formula for quaternion multiplication. So that he remembered properly, he engraved his findings into the stone of the Broom Bridge in Cabra.
